Photo of Gerald Ford from 1976

On May 12, 1976, we got to skip school to go to a political rally in the main square in Birmingham, Michigan. President Ford was campaigning for re-election.

I managed to get in the front of the crowd and shake his hand, and I also got a blurry picture of Ford riding in his motorcade, and a good one of him meeting the crowd.

Google is wonderful; I found a copy of his remarks that day:

I too, shook President Ford's hand in Birmingham. I was a Boyscout and later was interviewed by the Oakland Press. I told them "It felt tingly". I wish I had that paper. Saint Louis
